Spotlight Franchise Blog: Cash Plus

Cash Plus ExteriorAt FranFinders, we recognize how critical it is for a franchisee to feel supported and backed 100% by their franchisor. It has always been a priority of ours to make sure our clients pursue a franchise opportunity that will provide the help and guidance they need to run a successful franchise. Cash Plus, a bank-like franchise that offers check cashing, payday advances, international wire transfers and money orders, is a franchise in particular that goes above and beyond to support its franchisees.

Our team had the opportunity to speak to President and CEO of Cash Plus, Craig Wells. Before he acquired the California-based business back in 1996, Craig bought his own MAACO Auto Painting franchise in 1990. Although Craig later realized working in a shop was not for him, he learned a lot about what was important to franchisees in terms of support.

Craig’s personal experience has made a major impact on how he set up operations and support within Cash Plus. “I can relate to my franchisees from a philosophical standpoint. I also know what it’s like to write checks to the franchisor,” he said, “so I understand if they need something they deserve to get help right away.” Craig has developed a system that responds quickly to his franchisees. Craig WellsHe invests himself personally by giving franchisees his home phone number and holding one-on-one coaching calls to be involved and provide assistance. The franchise embodies a “we’re here, we care” spirit and Craig takes building a relationship from day one with his franchisee seriously.

When asked for the key of a successful franchise profile, Craig declared that it is the relationship his team is able to build with their franchisees. “Our Franchise Satisfaction Award is the one that I cherish the most,” Craig revealed. As a previous franchise owner, this award is most gratifying to Craig. His goal since day one was to create an environment in which his franchisees feel supported.

Besides the exceptional relationships and support provided, Craig believes it is the business itself that gives Cash Plus an advantage. “Our franchisees and their employees love working with customers. This is a fun business from an operational standpoint and owners carry a lot of respect within their communities, like bankers,” he said. He went on to say, “Employees often receive thank you cards, candy, and flowers. Customers are so appreciative of the help this business provides when they are in tight situations.”

Craig was also proud to say that Cash Plus is actively involved in community programs. “Our franchisees get involved through Cash Plus’ Bravo Kids program. They have collected supplies for local schools, raised funds and gathered clothes for disaster victims worldwide and mentored foster children,” he said.
